In The Studio with Michael Pugh Pottery

Set amongst the treetops - Michael Pugh & his wife Janey Pugh built this lofty, stilted studio in their backyard, which just happens to be a tropical rainforest. The couple have been living in Buderim for over 40 years now, having raised their family here. Now in it's 3rd incarnation, they built the studio themselves with bamboo grown on the property.

Michael is a self-taught potter, originally working with wild clays dug out from the middle of the earth - hence the studio name 'Middle Earth Pottery' - not a Lord of the Rings reference! He now works with white stone ware clay - emblazoned with his signature motifs and vibrant colours. Scroll down for the full gallery.
